If you're hankerin' to make some big vacation plans, you can't get much bigger than Texas. You'll find several pet-friendly places to choose from, in a reasonable range of prices.

Get Along, Little Doggies

Want to go to a dude ranch? The Bar H Dude Ranch may be just the adventure you're looking for.

Nestled right in the heart of the Texas Panhandle, the Bar H has been family owned and run for three generations. There's square dancing and live entertainment. A climate controlled bunkhouse for a comfortable night's rest any time of year. 5,500 acres of inviting range land, and such popular sporting activities as horseback riding, volleyball, fishing and bird hunting (the ranch is a licensed game preserve), swimming, and horseshoe pitching.

Since the Bar H is a real working ranch, guests can see firsthand how cowboys work cattle, feed livestock, and move herds. And if you're feeling courageous, you can even climb into the saddle yourself and give it a try!

Guests are allowed to bring one dog and/or cat. There's no extra charge for pets, and no other restrictions.

All rates include lodging, 3 meals, 2 horseback rides, and all other ranch activities.

  • Single: daily minimum $73.50, weekly $475 per person.
  • Double: daily minimum $63.00, weekly $400 per person.
  • Special group rates are also available.
